아이폰8 가상 홈버튼도 없앤다

조만간 있을 9월 애플 이벤트에서 공개될 것으로 알려진 아이폰8이 홈버튼뿐만 아니라, 가상 홈버튼도 제거할 것으로 보입니다. 동그란 홈버튼은 아이폰의 상징과도 같았는데요. 애플은 이번 기회에 이를 완전히 없애 버리려고 하나 봅니다. 이외에도 아이폰8 전면에는 M자 디스플레이를 탑재할 것으로 보입니다.

애플은 아이폰8에 홈버튼 대신, 아이폰8 디스플레이에 새로운 제스처를 인식하는 소프트웨어 바를 도입할 것으로 보이는데요. 이 제스처 바가 정확히 어떻게 작동하는지는 아직 밝혀지지 않았지만 아이패드 iOS 11의 독과 비슷한 방식일 것이라고 합니다.

아이폰8에 적용될 새로운 제스처 바는 애플이 왜 iOS 11에서 잠금 해제 방식과 알림 센터 제스처를 변경했는지, 3D 얼굴 인식이 어떻게 적용될 것인지를 이해하게 해줍니다.

개인적으로 이러한 애플의 시도만 봐도 애플이 확실히 다른 IT 기업과는 차별성이 있다고 생각합니다. 우리 일상에 깊숙이 스며들은 스마트폰의 가장 익숙해진 기본 조작법을 아이폰 10주년을 맞이해 완전히 뒤바꾸려는 애플의 시도는 칭찬받아야 마땅하다고 생각합니다. 

아이폰8의 제스처 바, 홈버튼을 얼마나 잘 대체할지 사뭇 기대됩니다.

The iPhone 8, which is expected to be unveiled at the upcoming Apple event in September, will remove the Home button as well as the Virtual Home button. The round home button was like the symbol of the iPhone. Apple is trying to get rid of it entirely at this opportunity.
